Covid impacts continued through 2021

COVID-19 came in 2020 and continued through 2021 and likely also 2022! Universities around the world have seen some significant changes. We've had to pivot to on-line teaching, restructure Honours and PhD projects to deal with lack of travel, which at times has been throughout South Australia but definitely also interstate and international travel has been completely out of the question, and work from home more than in the past. Despite these hurdles the lab has continued with Ben completing Hons in 2020 and Ashleigh, Josie and Lizzie finishing in 2021. PhD completions have continued with Briony, Nicole, Mandy (all completing in 2021) and Troy (2020) all finishing. Joe commenced his PhD in 2021 and Vinuri, Nikita, Sophie D, Koster and Bill in 2020. Sophie R also commenced her MPhil in 2020, now upgraded to a PhD.

Our microplastics research is continuing with Nina recently submitting her PhD thesis (with four published papers). Solomon continues his research investigating microplastics in crustaceans with Nikita, Vinuri and Sophie D all continuing work in this space. They received funding from the Association of Commonwealth Universities to make a video showcasing some of the this research - check that out on our plastics page.

It’s been a good few years publication wise too – check out our publications page for the latest list of publications and links to the papers - 2020, 2021. We’ve also had an impressive range of graphical abstracts associated with our publications. Below are a couple of the infographics from the Hons students.
